About Solve My Seating Chart

Solve My Seating Chart is a small, single-purpose tool. You paste a class roster, describe the shape of the room, add a few rules about who should sit where, and it arranges the desks for you. That is the whole product.

Why it exists

Seating charts are a chore that looks trivial until you actually sit down with a class list and try to satisfy four or five competing constraints at once. Two students who derail each other. One who needs to be near the front. A pair who genuinely work better together. Move one name and you break two other rules, so you start over.

That is a solving problem, not a judgement problem. A computer is good at the solving part; you are the only one who can decide which rules matter. This tool splits the work that way — you set the constraints, it does the shuffling.

Free to use

There is no paid tier, no trial, and no feature held back behind an upgrade prompt today. The site is inexpensive to run because everything happens in your browser, and any costs are covered by advertising rather than by charging teachers.

No accounts

You do not sign up, confirm an email address, or create a password. Open the page, use it, print the chart, close the tab. Nothing to remember and nothing to cancel.

Rosters never leave your browser

The arranging happens locally in the page you have open. Student names, room layouts and behavior rules are not uploaded, not stored on a server, and not kept between visits — reloading the page clears them. Even so, student information deserves care, so we suggest using first names or initials rather than full names or any detail about a student's record.

The privacy policy spells out exactly what the site does and does not collect.

Deliberately small

There is no gradebook, no roster import, no classroom-management dashboard. Tools that try to do everything usually ask for an account, your school data, and a subscription. This one does a single job and gets out of your way.

If something is broken or a rule type you need is missing, the contact page tells you where to write. Otherwise, the seating chart maker is ready whenever you are.
